Exploring the intersection of experiences and imagination
Contemporary Artist
Artists Statement
As an artist in a world of AI and the newest tech, I choose to be raw and unapologetic to unfold deeper layers of myself as I continue to grow in this life.
My work is a fusion between my culture, memories and imagination where I also show the way I visualise songs in my mind as music has grown with me and is an element that adds layers to the stories I express. Bold, vulnerable yet safe.
Creativity has always been a part of my life, from childhood sketches in school books to painting canvases with great emotional depth. My real development came through self teaching and deep introspection.
My past experience with a life impacting period of ill health shaped my exploration of resilience, and it was during that time that I decided that I would no longer ignore my calling. That period sparked the powerful, emotionally charged style I am known for today.
I work primarily in acrylic, drawing from life experiences and my Nigerian heritage. I blend ancient cultural symbols, such as the Ile Ife brass heads, with surrealist elements and modern themes. My process involves concept mapping, emotional colour choices, and reflective writing alongside each piece.
I create art to express my world, make sense of the senseless, and stir emotion in others while offering space for reflection and connection. In doing so, I hope to give back to the world, sparking conversations, ideas, and visions that inspire daring, resilient creation in all its forms.
My aim is always to make people feel.
